It is nice to hear that someone like you is so in tune with what Mark H is trying to do with his website. The jury is still out in regards to how my off-kilter music or videos might fit here, since I’ve given up long ago in try to "make it" in music (I’ve come close a number of times, out here near Hollywood). If you are a big fan of Bob Dylan, you ought to read the autobiography of the producer who made Dylan big. In all fairness, if somebody can make somebody like Dylan big (who literally cannot sing), with a well-connected enough producer, ANYONE (in theory) can "make it." Sorry about the cynicism. I just do music because I cannot NOT do it, it is my life. And yes, I bent Mark H’s ear a LOT with super long e-mails about my cynicism, which along with many other inputs, feeds nicely back into my own skewed songs.:-)

You are making the common mistake of confusing voice quality and singing quality. Dylan has a lousy voice but he is a great singer. You need to listen more to how emotive he is, you need to stop hearing the voice and listen to the singing. I don’t know if you are talking about John Hammond but no producer "made" Dylan. Dylan would have been a superstar no matter what, way too much talent to be denied. A musician who is about to enter his 50th year as a recording artist and who is still going strong was not made by a producer, he was born to be a star and that’s all he dreamed about, that was his goal and he attained it.

Well I’m on a totally different track to you trekkies ;)

My first thought was about the boys who go off to fight in wars in lands their compatriots couldn’t point to on a map. Maybe a little protest tune.

Then again, I’m also reminded of the theme tune to "The Fall Guy".... ;)

Yep, the line was used in a Star Trek movie too, so maybe I’ll look beyond the frontier, bodily go where no songwriter has gone before, twist and turn hyperspace into the metal fragments of hot singing guitar strings, pulse the universe with everlasting bass notes plucked from the ocean of the muse of life, cooly stroll into the world of www and say ’here’s my song’....maybe.

..wel I know it wasn’t the exact line but it’s the resonance that counts....

’death , the far(unknown) country from which no traveler returns or as star trek misquotes ’the future’ so that’s my start a song about either Death or the unknown future
