I wrote this song on october with the intention of it only being heard by the one in question, unfortunately it didn’t work out and all I was left with was some lyrics. As hurtful as it was at the time, I still went ahead and recorded the song.
I can no longer play the song anymore, despite how lovely the chords are and for that reason I’m now calling this the most personal song that I’ve ever done to date.
I would like to just add that the only reason I’m releasing this song is because my mother heard it by accident and started to cry, she then told me that I should release it, had that not of happened the track would of stayed on my computer till the day I died
P.S A few things you might want to know, my vocals on this track apart from the backing vocals and the slight echo on the end of a few lines, are not edited you are hearing me at my rawest.
Hope you enjoy here are the lyrics
V1
Dear Charlotte
Don’t be afraid
You are not
On your own
V2
Dear Charlotte
You must feel strange
Being far from
Your old home
Chorus
Dear Charlotte
I’ve been there
I’ve wiped your tears
And kissed your hair
Dear Charlotte
I’ve seen you in states
I’ve stood my ground
And stayed
. . . .Need I say more?
V3
Dear Charlotte
You wanna fly
But you need to
Mend your wings
V4
Dear Charlotte
No need to cry
I’d save you
From anything
Chorus
Dear Charlotte
I’ve been there
I’ve wiped your tears
And kissed your hair
Dear Charlotte
I’ve seen you in states
I’ve stood my ground
And stayed
. . . .Need I say more?
Written and performed by Dion McVey
