‘Flame Of Truth’ by Cozmic Box – CD review.
COZMIC BOX is an international band formed from two musicians that met on myspace in 2007 (yep, myspace was once a real social hub!).
John Hohnstein (keyboards) resides in Evergreen Colorado, USA and Jed McConkey (guitars and vocals) is from Northern Ireland.
Their first album, “Flame Of Truth” was released in august 2011. The unique music is a blend of many styles that they fondly describe as “progressive tranceadelic”.
Hetty Lane guests on vocals on a couple of tracks and Jed, who some of you will already know from the MT video site, engineers and produces. It was recorded in the magical surroundings of Evergreen, Colarado.

With 14 tracks and just over 70 minutes of music you can expect an ‘experience’, so
best to put some time aside to lose yourself in the soundscapes and fully explore the sonic canvas. Jed and John sound very much like Jed and John, but I did feel touches of Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Yes, U2 (on certain days) and some of the other ‘Big Picture’ artists and bands many of us will have experienced in our musical comings of age. I can remember turning out the lights, turning up the stereo and lying flat out on the floor whilst listening to ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’, a reprise of this listening position would not be out of place for ‘Flame Of Truth’. Jed and John are clearly very accomplished musicians and composers, comfortable with what they do and easily welcome you into their world.
After the short introduction of ‘The Beautiful Plan – pt1’ the synths, guitars and voices of the title track ‘Flame Of Truth’ carry you away on a beautiful musical journey. A sonic landscape to captivate and enthral. One of my favourites is ‘Winter Haze’, track 10.

The title alone suggests a particular landscape, both real and virtual. A gentle pulsating groove underpins superb Guitar and Keyboard work. Once you enter the world created by this track you will not want to leave it.
But let me keep you no longer, it is time for the journey….

You can hear some of the songs/see some of the videos from this quite refreshing album on Jed’s MT video channel, make this journey and you will not be disappointed.
Prepare to open the ‘Cozmic Box’….
Web and buy links to be found on Jed’s channel also.
