Fostex G24S Multi-Track Tape Recorder for Sale.
« on: June 06, 2012, 09:39:52 PM »
Hi,

I used to work in a small local studio (I was the business partner of the owner). Sadly he is no longer with us and I inherited the studio's equipment. The core of which is an immaculate Fostex G24S fully midi controled, high quality, analogue Multi-track Tape (1") Recorder. The studio basically broke-even through most of its short history, based on band practice areas. The recording studio was drastically under-used, hence the lack of wear on the machine. It was also serviced regularly by Fostex Engineers in London (A costly affair at around £1000 at time! Excluding carriage!).

If you want the classic warm sound you used to get in music in the late 70's and early 80's from vynyl you need the King of Analogue Recording. The sound that digital sampling cannot capture, regardless of the bit-rate. This machine will give you that sound, in spades!

I have all the masters from the studio so can provide masses of examples of this machine's capabilities, but due to my gubbed back and lack of a 24 channel mixing desk I cannot demonstrate it in action, but I have taken my own music from the tapes I own, and it was perfect, the heads had not moved a fraction of a millimeter (in 2008), since the recordings were made 7 years earlier! It has not turned a wheel since. It has also been stored in a dry room (my livingroom) and is well protected from dust etc.

Also:

I have 17 used 1" tapes which I would throw in for free (some have only been single use), and there is one other tape which is brand new (Normal price £90+). Given a sensible price for the tape recorder, (which you would have to collect as it's quite a heavy piece of kit, so postage is out of the question), I would bundle these free.

And:

I also have an input loom for the machine made to studio specifications (high quality cable and plugs), sadly the other cables for output to the mixing desk were not included when the equipment came to me. (12 x 1/4" Jacks to 12 RCA Phono Plugs).

Plus:

If it is of any interest, I have a Tascam Digital Synchroniser for use with Tascam Digital 8-Tracks, to chain three of them together (This would come free only if you have a use for it, if not, sorry no reduction in price of the tape recorder! LOL!)

If you are interested in this magnificant machine just get in touch, arrange to see it, and I will try and hook it up to my measly, (12 Inputs, 2 outputs), Mixer to assure you that all 24 tracks are in full working order, and we can hopefully make a deal.

I want to see this go to a good home, and if you are serious about your music and have some spare cash for a very rare piece of studio level equipment, it is the find of a lifetime.

Bob Thomas.

Apparently the picture of the G24S is missing so I'll attach it again to this note.

Bob Thomas :)

Just some more info.

I also have 2 stand-alone duplicators, one for CDs and the other for both CDs & DVDs. Together they can duplicate up to 480 Audio CDs every 8 hours (roughly 15 mins per run). The CD Copier produces 8 discs in around 12 minutes and the DVD copier produces 7 discs in about the same time, I assumed 15 minutes to be conservative. :)

If the offer for the Fostex is reasonably good I would be inclined to include these in the deal as freebies, along with the other gear I mentioned, if they are wanted.

Bob.  :)

Only just Sean.

As you can see Dan (above) is also interested and is making arrangements to see me next week about it. If I don't hear from him obviously I will still be offering the Recorder for sale. But I hope you appreciate he was first in line. My asking Price is £1000, if that is met you will also get: 1 x DVD/CD Multi-copier (x7 discs),  1 x CD Multi-copier (x8 discs), Input Loom (24 Channels), Optical-Co-Ax Converter. Also available is wanted: TASCAM Synch Unit for Digital 8 Tracks, 18 x 1" Tapes (various qualities but most are single use and one is unused) as freebies. I can't afford to reduce the price very much if none of the above is wanted, so it would be advantageous to take the lot and pass on what you don't need to someone else and recoup some money.

All-in-all it's a really good deal if you want to produce and manufacture your own CDs for selling at gigs etc. Not to mention to beautiful sound of Analogue recordings compared to bare digital.

Cheers,
Bob.

Hi,
I have to report that the Fostex G24S has now been sold. Sorry I couldn't post this sooner but I've had a lot on my plate this past couple of weeks.

I do still have a TASCAM Synchroniser Unit (Chains 3 x TASCAM DA-88 Digital 8-Tracks together to create a 24 Track Digital Studio) - £50, A (new) CD/DVD x7 Multi-Copier £120 and a somewhat larger (older!) CD Multi-Copier which still manages to spit out 8 CDs in about 12 minutes - ideal if you want to produce lots of CDs to sell at gigs (running both => 60 CDs/hour!) (£40) or all three for £200.
There is also a wheeled 'Road-Box' of assorted Leads, including an 8-Track loom, some nice quality audio cables & pair of matched, heavy duty, PA Speaker cables, I will throw the box & contents in as a freebie if all are taken. :)

If interested, email me at rjethomas@gmail.com or leave me a message here.

Bob.

I'm new to the site and also have a Fostex G24 for sale with the controller, loom and demag for £750.

It's in great condition and comes with 10 1" Ampex tapes.

Please message me if you're interested.

Best regards,

Hi,

I just sold my Fostex G24S but I have the email address of someone who is still looking for one. He contacted me to see if I knew of another, would you believe that?! It MUST be fate LOL!

If you email me at rjethomas@gmail.com I will hook the two of you up?

Cheers,

Bob.
